FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
So what’s this all about?
All of us are involved in ‘Community Engagement’ in some way – in simple terms it’s the way we engage with people through such things as day to day contact, various communication methods, such as letters, leaflets, meetings and consultation activities. Basically it’s about giving residents the opportunity to have a say in decision-making.
Community engagement is concerned with the way that we inform and involve the public in decisions about the services we provide. It is also about the way local people are able to express views about services provided by the County Council.
How can I get involved?
If you have an interest in getting involved in future consultation exercises then we’d like to hear from you.
Will you really listen to what I have to say?
Yes. We really do want to know what you think of us and the services we provide. We need to listen to you so we can improve the services we deliver and make sure that we provide services for you in the way you want them.
Can I make a difference?
Yes - by getting involved you can let us know where improvements can be made and how you would like to see things change. If you look on the community engagement database, you can see the outcomes and decisions that have been taken as a result of community engagement.
Why are you asking us what we think when you have experts working for you who can make more informed decisions?
We feel that it is important to involve people in the decisions that will affect their lives. We want to become better at listening to residents and involve them more in decision making. Only by doing this can we discover that residents really want from the County Council.
